New Technology Alert!

As you know, we aim to be Chicagoland’s leader in myopia management, and in the first half of 2026 we’ve taken a big leap forward to help take even better care of you and your family.
 

We now have the ability to test “axial length biometry” (abbreviated “AXL”), which is an extremely precise measurement of eye length.  Myopia progresses (prescription gets worse) when the eyeball grows longer, and this advanced technology allows us to detect small, abnormal changes sooner, and with more accuracy, than simply watching for prescription changes.   

A single snapshot measurement is good, but AXL information becomes really powerful when we look at your trends over time in combination with emerging growth chart data.

Because prescription and AXL don’t always match, AXL unlocks the cutting edge ability to discover young people at high risk, even before they develop a prescription, and may even allow us to prevent myopia altogether. This is a big deal, and it’s something we’ve never been able to do before!
